Family Saves Baby Squirrel after Tornado Destroys Nest

Buddy the squirrel should be very thankful for Fancher the family. The Fanchers found little Buddy in his overturned nest after a tornado swept through Selma, Alabama. They decided to save him and nurse him back to life. These days, he happily munches on pecans and sips “kitten’s milk” (hmm – I assume the reporter means cat’s milk.)

Buddy is a gray tree squirrel, and at about 6 inches long, will grow to be about 16-20 inches long, not including the tail, when fully grown. The family estimates Buddy to be about 4 weeks old.

“He’s going to grow up and rule the house,” Fancher said.
